This course in mindfulness meditation explores the theory and practice of mindfulness as presented in the early Buddhist texts and contemporary applications, most notably the Mindfulness- Based Stress Reduction program, We will discuss the unity of body and mind; the effects of mindfulness on emotional, physical and psychological health; and the integration of mindfulness into relationships, work, leadership and everyday life. By choosing to focus on mindful awareness, a practitioner can respond to stimuli rather than react, and thus develop resiliency. Through this course, students will learn how to shift from reactivity to responsivity, to develop resiliency and to perceive the creative solutions that lie within the fabric of day-to-day life.
